John Goodhue earned a law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1982 and has been helping people protect and secure their lives ever since. John’s father, a truck driver, retired early at 62 and elected to receive as much money as he could from his union retirement plan. He took the highest payment option, which also left his mother with no survivorship benefits if his dad died early.
Everything was going fine in his parents’ retirement until his dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died at 69. John watched as his mom simultaneously lost her life partner of more than 50 years, and the majority of her retirement income, as she lost his father’s pension and her own Social Security check. If not for John and his brother, John doesn’t know how his mother would have supported herself. As a result, John has committed himself to help as many people as possible create a retirement strategy that will help keep them from worrying about their future in retirement.
Raised in Kentucky, John has lived in Colorado for 20 years, and is currently living in Longmont. He and his wife, Mary, have a large blended family with nine kids. John is an avid golfer and a huge University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball, Denver Broncos, and Colorado Avalanche fan. He has kids that go to both CU and CSU, so he roots for both.
John holds a Series 65 securities license and is registered as an Investment Adviser Representative through Horter Investment Management, an SEC Registered Investment Adviser located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also holds his life insurance and property and casualty insurance licenses in Colorado.
